Building and Loan Mortgage Company was founded in December 2002. The name was chosen as a remembrance of the 1946 classic movie, "It's a Wonderful Life." At a pivotal point in the movie, the main character, George Bailey, who runs the Bedford Falls Building and Loan, gives a speech to the Board of Directors. In which he says, "these people do most of the working and paying and living and dying....well don't they deserve to work and pay and live and die in a few rooms and a bath...?"

At  Building and Loan, we believe that the people who go to work every day and do their jobs are the "salt of the earth." We believe that everyone has a unique story to tell. We believe that sometimes "bad things happen to good people". We believe that everyone needs a little help from a friend to realize the joy and security of homeownership.

We strive to honor the work of our borrowers in this world by working hard to provide friendly and fair service; knowing that if we do our best, someday, just one more person or one more family will know how it feels to say: "This is my home. I own it."
